Hi! My name is Andrew Jordan, and I am a sound designer and game audio implementer.
I have several years of academic experience in sound. I recently completed the Sound Design for Visual Media program at Vancouver Film School (VFS), graduating with honors in April 2022. I learned not only complex sound design techniques, but also undertook a myriad of editing, mixing, and game audio implementation assignments on which I was consistently graded highly. I also worked on various student films and game projects, surpassing the expectations of my clients.
The primary game project I undertook at VFS was a re-design project for an existing VFS game called Robo Rapture, a retro-style strategy game. I spent four months working with a classmate on this project. I designed the player and enemy SFX and voices, as well as implemented and mixed all audio material with Wwise. I used various sound creation methods including sampling, synthesis, and effects processing to make each and every character sound unique, based on not just their appearance, but their abilities and role in the game. My work was received very positively not just by my instructors, but also by industry professionals.
My main interest as a sound designer is the creation and processing of original sounds to create otherworldly effects, as well as the way those effects enhance visual media. I am endlessly fascinated by the concept of pulling entirely new material from everyday sounds, as well as the limitless possibilities of synthesis. I’m always looking for interesting sounds around me to record and add to my library for future use. In addition, I have a passion and skill for both film sound editing and game audio implementation through multiple middleware programs including Wwise, FMOD, Unreal, and Unity. I can bring a creative, detail-oriented mindset to your team and help your ideas come to life.
